Is cycling an aerobic exercise?

Riding a bicycle is the first choice for losing weight, but some people may wonder, is cycling an aerobic exercise? After persisting for a period of time, some people feel that they have not lost weight, but have built muscular legs. This will cause doubts about this topic, and people have to think about whether cycling is aerobic or anaerobic? Then listen to what the editor will tell you.

Aerobic exercise refers to endurance exercise in which the body's metabolism is mainly aerobic metabolism. Aerobic exercise can increase the body's oxygen uptake, enhance cardiopulmonary function, and is the best way to achieve health effects. Aerobic exercise includes walking (strolling, brisk walking), jogging, playing ball, swimming, climbing, cycling, aerobics, Tai Chi, etc. Aerobic exercise is characterized by low intensity, rhythm, uninterrupted and long duration. Compared with explosive non-aerobic exercises such as weightlifting, running, high jump, long jump, and throwing, aerobic exercise is a constant exercise that can last for more than 5 minutes with spare energy.

Aerobic exercise refers to any rhythmic exercise with a long duration and medium to low intensity. It must meet three conditions: the energy required for exercise is mainly provided by oxidizing substances such as fat or sugar in the body; most of the muscles (2/3) of the body are involved in exercise; the exercise intensity is between low and medium, and the duration is 15-40 minutes or longer. Long-term aerobic exercise can increase the amount of hemoglobin in the body, improve the body's resistance, resist aging, improve the working efficiency of the cerebral cortex and cardiopulmonary function, increase fat consumption, prevent arteriosclerosis, and reduce the incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

There are many forms of aerobic exercise, such as brisk walking, jogging, aerobics, swimming, cycling, and various treadmills, cyclo-coaching bikes, and stair machine exercises. Aerobic exercise can be used for fitness, depending on local conditions and one's ability.

Therefore, if the cycling time reaches the above requirements, it is aerobic exercise!

Now you may understand that aerobic exercise includes cycling. If you want to have a perfect body and lose weight, you can choose sports such as cycling. And the editor believes that cycling and hiking with friends is a good choice, but you should ride in moderation and not rush. In fact, more exercise does not bring greater benefits.
